Founder and CEO of VHG Hospitality Asia

Willem Niemeijer is the Founder and CEO of VHG Hospitality Asia, bringing over three decades of leadership in Asia’s hospitality and tourism industry. After moving from the Netherlands to Thailand in 1987, he founded Khiri Travel in 1993.
Today, Khiri operates across nine countries with 17 offices and welcomes more than 30,000 travellers annually. A long-time advocate for responsible and regenerative tourism, Willem established Khiri Reach in 2007 to ensure 100% of donations support local community and conservation projects.
He has been instrumental in developing award-winning eco-lodges including Tad Fane Resort in Laos, Anurak Community Lodge in Thailand, and Cardamom Tented Camp in Cambodia.
Under YAANA Ventures, he leads VHG Hospitality Asia, creator of Visama Lodges—a growing collection of luxury tented camps in remarkable natural and cultural settings. Following the opening of Visama Lodge Nan, the group is developing its next lodge in Cambodia, with additional sites under consideration across Asia.
Guided by the 4Cs—Conservation, Community, Culture, and Commerce—Willem continues to champion hospitality projects that deliver meaningful guest experiences and positive environmental and social impact.
