Gertjan Hoffer is the co-founder and CEO of Basecamp Eco-resorts, an international hospitality platform developing and operating inspiring eco-resorts across Europe, Africa and Asia.
Since 2019, he has helped build Basecamp from a single empty location into a multi-location owner-operator-brand platform welcoming more than 100,000 guests annually in 2025.
His work focuses on creating inspiring places with a strong identity, where hospitality, art, nature, food, culture and community come together. Rather than developing traditional resorts, Basecamp focuses on placemaking: transforming unique locations into meaningful destinations with character, strong local integration and long-term regenerative thinking.
Together with local teams and partners, he aims to create places that people genuinely connect with — places that continue evolving over time and become more beautiful, inspiring and self-sufficient year after year.
