LAAS is a feeling – a sense of escape from everything, and yet a return to something deep within. Nestled in a grove of pine trees by the sea, caressed by the pleasant Aegean breeze filled with birdsong, the buzz of cicadas and the gentle burble of a mountain stream, LAAS is about slow time. It’s a way of life, flowing between the comforts of tented interiors and the wild nature at their doorstep, between the joys of privacy and community, rest and recreation. As all senses are immersed in the natural energies of sea, earth, fire and water, LAAS feels like coming home.
Nestled among the trees on a blue flag beach with fine sand, LAAS is surrounded by beauty. There are hiking and mountain biking trails along the coast, and the nearby Mount Pangaion is famous for its scenic forest and waterfalls. The province is rich in ancient culture and religious heritage, known as Macedonia in the time of Alexander the Great.
LAAS feels far from the bustle, yet the historic town of Kavala is minutes away. It has an attractive nightlife, great restaurants, and a lively port where island hoppers and cruise ships arriving from Limnos or Thasos mingle with local fisherman and an international sailing community. The Kavala international airport is 30km away.
The LAAS experience has all the excitement and adventure of camping, paired with comfort and sophistication. The tents are freestanding and intimately connected to the sounds, scents and temperatures of the outdoors. They vary in size and layout, and all include bespoke design features, full bathrooms, comfortable mattresses dressed in fine linen, and a private patio with outdoor shower.
Our name was inspired by the Homerian word for a stone wet by seawater, and is related to the archaic word for Greece, Hellas, signifying ‘the throne of light’. We consider it our responsibility to honour nature’s legacy with eco-friendly practices. We support local producers and artisans, source seasonal and organic produce, reduce and recycle waste, our composting completes a virtuous cycle with the earth, and we draw on spring water as well as solar power.
